Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Paz ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application and related services. We believe in being upfront about how things work behind the scenes, so we've written this policy to give you a clear picture of what happens with your information and why.
Who We Are
Paz is a household management application built for families in the MENA region. Our mission is to help families manage their homes with less stress and more clarity — from coordinating with household staff to keeping track of groceries, maintenance, and daily routines. We built Paz because we know how much goes into running a household, and we wanted to create a tool that makes that easier.
Our Approach to Your Information
Before getting into the specifics, we want to be clear about something important: no one at Paz sits around reading your grocery lists, task details, or household schedules. The information you put into Paz exists to make the app work for you — to send the right reminders, coordinate with the right people, and help you stay on top of things. Your household data flows through our systems the same way your messages flow through a messaging app: it's infrastructure, not surveillance.
We process your information only to deliver the features you use, and we've designed our systems to limit access to what's strictly necessary to keep things running.
What Information We Collect and Why
Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account, we ask for basic contact details — your name, email address, and phone number. This is so we can identify your account, send you important notifications, and provide support if you need it. Without this, we wouldn't be able to create your account or communicate with you about your household.
When you set up your household in the app, you provide details about your home and the people involved — family members, household staff, and property information. This is the core of how Paz works. We need to know who's in your household so that tasks, schedules, and communications go to the right people. Think of it like a shared family calendar: the app needs to know who's who in order to be useful.
Information Created Through Your Use of the App
As you use Paz day to day, the app stores the content you create — things like tasks, grocery lists, event schedules, and maintenance records. This information lives in your household's workspace so that everyone who needs to see it can, and so that the app can send timely reminders and suggestions. This data belongs to you, and we go into more detail about that in the Data Ownership section below.
Communication Data
If you use Paz's WhatsApp integration to communicate with household staff, the messages you initiate are sent through that integration. Paz acts as a bridge here — when you send a task or instruction to a staff member via the app, we relay that message through WhatsApp so they receive it in a format they're already familiar with. We store a record of these communications within your household workspace so you have a history of what was communicated and when.
To be clear: Paz only sends messages that you initiate. We never send unsolicited messages to your contacts, and we don't monitor or analyze the content of these messages for any purpose other than delivering them.
Device and Technical Information
We collect basic technical information about your device — such as your device type and operating system — to ensure the app runs smoothly. This helps us diagnose crashes, optimize performance across different devices, and ensure compatibility with updates. This is standard practice for mobile applications, and we don't use this information to build profiles about you or track your behavior across other apps.
How We Use Your Information
Everything we do with your information falls into one of these categories:
Providing the service you signed up for. This is the primary reason we process your information. Your household data powers the features you use every day — task management, scheduling, staff coordination, grocery lists, and reminders. Without processing this data, the app simply wouldn't function.
Keeping you informed. We send notifications about tasks, upcoming events, maintenance reminders, and other household updates. These notifications are driven by the schedules and preferences you set in the app — we're not making editorial decisions about what to alert you about.
Communicating with your household staff. When you use the WhatsApp integration, we process the messages you create and deliver them to the staff members you specify. This happens only at your direction.
Improving the experience over time. We look at how the app is used in aggregate — not at individual household data — to understand which features are most useful, where people get stuck, and what we should build next. For example, if we notice that a large percentage of users create grocery lists but very few use the maintenance scheduling feature, that tells us where to focus our efforts.
AI-powered suggestions. Paz includes an AI assistant that can help with things like task descriptions and suggestions. When you use these features, the relevant content (such as a task you're working on) is processed by our AI provider to generate helpful responses. We explain exactly how this works in the Third-Party Services section below.
Third-Party Services
Like most modern applications, Paz relies on a number of trusted third-party services to operate. We've chosen each of these carefully, and we want you to understand what role each one plays.
Supabase provides our database infrastructure. Your household data is stored securely in Supabase with row-level security enabled, which means the system enforces that each user can only access data belonging to their own household. Even at the database level, your neighbor's grocery list is invisible to you, and vice versa.
Expo powers our push notification system. When you receive a reminder about an upcoming task or event, Expo is the service that delivers that notification to your device.
WhatsApp (by Meta) is used for the staff messaging integration. When you choose to send a message to a household staff member through Paz, the content of that message is transmitted through WhatsApp's platform. Only messages you explicitly initiate are sent through this integration — Paz never sends messages on its own.
Anthropic (Claude) provides the AI assistant features within Paz. When you use AI-powered features like task suggestions or smart descriptions, the relevant content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Importantly, we do not send personal identifiers (like your name, email, or phone number) to Anthropic — only the task or content that needs processing. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models.
OpenAI (Whisper) provides speech-to-text functionality. If you use voice input features within Paz, your audio is processed by OpenAI's Whisper service to convert it to text. The audio is used solely for transcription and is not retained by OpenAI for model training purposes. No personal identifiers are shared alongside the audio data.
Apple distributes our app through TestFlight (for beta testing) and the App Store. Apple's standard terms apply to the distribution and installation of the app.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party, and we never will. Our business model is built around providing a useful service to families, not around monetizing your data.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in the European Union, specifically in Frankfurt, Germany. We chose an EU data center because the European Union maintains some of the strongest data protection standards in the world, and we wanted our infrastructure to reflect our commitment to keeping your information safe.
All data is encrypted both in transit (when it's moving between your device and our servers) and at rest (when it's sitting in our database). We use industry-standard encryption protocols to ensure that your information is protected at every stage.
As mentioned above, we use Supabase's row-level security to ensure strict data isolation between households. This means that even if there were a bug in our application code, the database itself would prevent one household from accessing another household's data. It's an extra layer of protection built into the foundation of our system.
We regularly review our security practices and update them as standards evolve. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take every reasonable measure to protect your information.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access your data. You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you and your household.
Correct your data. If any information we have about you is inaccurate, you can ask us to fix it. You can also update most information directly within the app.
Delete your data. You can request that we delete your account and all associated household data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days and will confirm once the deletion is complete.
Export your data. You own your data, and if you want to take it with you, you have every right to do so.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@getpaz.io. We'll respond to your request promptly and always within 30 days.
Data Ownership
This is straightforward: you own your household data. Paz does not claim any ownership over the content you create within the app. Your tasks, lists, schedules, notes, and any other information you enter belong to you. We are custodians of your data, not owners of it.
If you ever decide to stop using Paz, you can request an export of your data or request its complete deletion. Either way, it's your choice.
Data Retention
We retain your household data for as long as your account is active, because that data is what makes the app useful to you. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and household information within 30 days.
We may retain certain anonymized, aggregated data (for example, the total number of tasks created across all users in a given month) for analytical purposes, but this data cannot be linked back to you or your household in any way.
Children
Paz is designed for adults managing their households. The app is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18 without the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
International Data Considerations
Paz serves families primarily in the MENA region, but our data infrastructure is hosted in the European Union. This means your data may cross international borders when it travels between your device and our servers. We ensure that all such transfers are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws and that your information receives the same level of protection regardless of where it is processed.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email so you have the opportunity to review the updated terms. Minor changes (such as clarifying language without changing our practices) may be made without notification, but the updated policy will always be available within the app.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy will always reflect when the most recent changes were made.
